The thing that captured my attention at the round table is the amount of kids my age that are exploited into prostitution. I can't imagine the kind of physical and psychological damage they go through after being forced into that kind of 'work'. I would definitely want to learn more about this problem and what we should do to end it.
(Colegio Maya) The most interesting thing I heard at the Round Table is that many children, even younger than me, are working to earn money for their family. They don't go to school and forced to work, not enjoying their life. The child prostitution was surprised me most because the children might not know what they are doing but they do forced by their parents or other people. What I would like to hear more is that what kind of child labor there are in the world. I want to know how they work and in what condition they work.
What was the most interesting thing you heard at the RoundTable? What surprised you most? What issue would you like to hear more about? The most interesting thing I heard at the Roundtable was the fact that so many kids are forced to do labor and prostitution. The more frightening aspect was that it doesn't solve the problem to just take them away from their jobs, but instead have them do something else. The issue I would most like to hear about is Child Soldiers.
I thought that the most interesting thing was mr. morales talking about smoking, I'm not gonna smoke! I would have liked to hear more about their personal views on immigration and what they're doing to stop illegal aliens.
(Colegio Maya) What interested me the most at the round table was the amount of poverty that is in Guatemala. And besides the amount of population of Guatemalans that migrate in and immigrate out of the country. I would like to learn more about the statistics of these issues.
(Colegio Maya) I will like to know more about what organizations exist here in Guatemala that helps out with the problems of child labor, immigration, and internal migration.
I thought that the presentations were prety good. I would like to learn more about immigration out of Guatemala. e.g Why people move out? What opportunities do they find in Guatemala
The most interesting thing that I have learned about the round table is how internal migration is only seen in rural areas because of the lack of work and education. It suprises me how much the lack of education really affects people. I would really like to learn how governments are taking actions.
(Colegio Maya) What surprised me the most was some of the experiences that the experts talked about. Like how once one of the experts went to a school in the internal part of Brazil and the teacher there would just tell the students to copy an article but not teach them anything related to it. I would like to know more about internal migration.
(Colegio Maya) I agree with HyunAh. It really surprised me how students didn't learn anything at school, but just copied long articles without knowing about it. Now I understand why some children prefered working than going to school.

I would like to hear more about child labor not only in Guatemala but the whole world. The thing that captured my attention was that most children under 10 start working in dangerous job and they don't get education.
(Colegio Maya) Another thing that really interested me was the fact that even if you take away the jobs of the poor, it wouldn't solve the problem of illegal/ underpaid jobs. It might even make the matters worse. If we want to end poverty, we have to give options and alternatives to those people in need so that theye can advance and break out of their current state.
(Colegio Maya) I agree with Clara. We shouldn't just take the jobs away from the poor to stop them from getting involved with illegal jobs but to give them different options.
